| This beautiful island, situated in the Indian Ocean, is known
as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. There are some attractive waterfalls, rivers and natural
forests in this country, they are enriching the image in the country all over the world.
The range of the mountains in hill-country (Kurunegala, Kandy e.t.c.)
seem to be the giants in these areas. Formally, Sri Lanka was well-famous as ''The Ceylon,
Rathnadeepa and Thaprobana'' (especially by Muslim traders visited here) in
world-wide. |

The beginning of the Sri Lanka's
civilization is followed by the arrival of the ancient people from India, the nearest
country before many yeras ago. As an inherrited way of life, Sri Lankans are used to
farming. Therefore, their lives are directly connected with weather condion in the country
especially rainfall. So, our economy was mainly dependent on agriculture. But, in the face
of Globalization and Industrialization, that thing has changed now. That place has
been turned topsy turvy, changed by the industries and garments in the country. But
still, the farming sector is also going on well. |

seems to come to the end now. So, the attraction of the foriegners has increased at the
moment. Therefore, The Local Tourism-Industry is contributing a great deal to the
country's income annually, while surpassing the value added by the agriculture so far. |

More than 1/2 of the population in Sri Lanka
is Sinhalese. But, according to the statistics estimated in last few years, the other
nations (mostly Muslims and Tamils) are growing at an
increasing rate. |

Mainly, Tamil people are living in Nothern
Province and furthur in the center of the country, while other kind of the Sri Lankans
like Muslims is widely spreaded in Baticola, Trinco and Ampara districts. |
| In Sri Lanka, picturesque religious places, and ancient
kindoms and pre-historical ruins and relics also add some sort of attraction to the
country's heritage. ''Dalada Perehera'' held annually in the Temple of Tooth in Kandy is
the most important event done by the buddhists in this country. Katharagama is one of the
important devoted places in Sri Lanka. The church at Thalawila, the ''Holy-Cross'' church
at Marawila are few of the worshiping places amids the catholics. Even if there are
different kinds of nations, the most significant fact is that they are living with peace
and harmony. Probably, To see such a thing in a country like Sri Lanka can be making an
amazing feeling in your mind. |

paradise in the Indian Ocean; that can also be defined as an oasis in the present world
